Microsoft Introduces Free AI Video Tool Powered by OpenAI’s Sora
Microsoft is entering the AI video generation space with the launch of Bing Video Creator, a free tool that uses OpenAI’s powerful Sora model. This new offering builds on the success of Bing Image Creator, which is already popular among users for generating AI images.
Unlike OpenAI’s direct Sora access, currently available only through paid ChatGPT plans, Bing Video Creator will allow users to generate AI videos for free using text prompts. The tool is currently in beta and is being tested on desktop and the Bing mobile app for Android and iOS.
However, the free version has some limitations. While the full Sora model supports advanced features like uploading images and combining video clips, Microsoft/Bing Video Creator focuses mainly on text-to-video generation. Users describe the scene they want, and the AI creates a video based on their input.
To improve performance, users can redeem Microsoft Rewards points for faster video generation speeds, adding an optional upgrade to the free experience.
By integrating Sora into Bing, Microsoft is positioning itself as a serious contender in the growing generative AI market. However, competition is heating up, with Google’s Veo and Kling AI also making strides in AI video technology. Time will tell how well Microsoft’s tool stacks up.
